About

Rug the Lou was founded in Spring 2021 by rugby people looking to make a difference in young lives. Inspired by Memphis Inner City Rugby, we aim to spread rugby in disadvantaged and underserved communities throughout the St. Louis area. We are actively seeking partner organizations, people who want to contribute, TEACHERS, and resources to fund our second year of programming. In particular, South City, Soulard and East St Louis are communities we are targeting for rugby programming and opportunities.

Rug the Lou hosted an official launch event and fundraising drive in late 2021. After a successful 2022, we will be kicking off our second year in February of 2023. Currently, our organization funds and supports: North County Storm HS boys, Patonville Girls on the Run Rugby, and a middle school club in North County. Let us know how you can help!

If you or someone you know is moved by our mission and wants to help young people, reach out.

Our Mission

To uplift the life trajectory of youth and improve food security in underserved communities around St. Louis.

Our Vision

Multiple rugby teams, high school and youth, on both sides of the Mississippi River in the St Louis Metro Area.  Several hundred young people receiving nutritious meals, life skills, opportunities, mentoring and positive role models via rugby-centric programming.  Improved awareness of nutrition, household management, budgeting and gardening in St Louis’s underserved communities.  High school graduates who go on to higher education, productive adult lives and who give back.

Rugby is the vehicle which allows us to feed, mentor and uplift young lives.
